Souriakoomaren Moorghen
Souriakoomaren Moorghen
General Manager

Souriakoomaren joined our team in April 1977 and has been a vital part of our organisation ever since. He began his career as an outdoor salesman for Société Ajit & J. Tulsidas. In September 1978, he joined the accounting department of British American Tobacco and simultaneously took care of all accounting tasks for Société Ajit & J. Tulsidas.

By the end of 1987, Souriakoomaren joined Belle Vue Mauricia Sugar Estate (now Terra) as a computer programmer. Leveraging the experience and training on IBM 36 and IBM AS400 gathered at British American Tobacco, he was tasked to install and operate a new IBM AS400 at Belle Vue Mauricia Sugar Estate. He was also very well trained in several other software including dBase III, Quatro, Lotus 123 and FoxPro, working both on DOS and Windows environments.

Following the expansion of Jetha Tulsidas Group, Souriakoomaren was called by our Chairman, Mr Ajit Tulsidas, to manage a retail outlet and take care of accounting work in July 1989. He has been a pioneer in installing the first desktop computer in our company and he developed our first payroll system using Lotus 123.

With further expansion, Souriakoomaren took up the challenges of international trade under the chairmanship of Mr Ajit Tulsidas in July 1999. Over the years, he has gained extensive knowledge in the sector and has become well-versed in the customs legislation and procedures of several African countries through Bureau Veritas and SGS.
